Ookujira - Giant Whale Rampage
Rieha Creative is an independent game developer springing from Finland's capital Helsinki. After having been founded in 2013 by Juha Ikonen, several game prototypes were built, but not until the spring of 2014 did any of them feel solid enough to start development in to a complete game.
Rieha's one man mission is to make games with innovative design and engaging aesthetics to stand out from the crowded mobile game scene.
Rieha's first project to see the light of day is Ookujira, released for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch on March 20th 2016, after over a year and half in development.
Android version of the game was released on December 22nd 2016.
The game is completely free to play. Additional characters and extra in-game currency (diamonds which can also be collected from the levels) are available to buy as optional in-app-purchases. Diamonds can be used to get various power-ups, but it's not possible to simply pay-to-win. Top scores require skill (and a pinch of luck).
Being a platformer (albeit unconventional one) with single touch controls, the game is easy to learn, but takes some effort to master. Length of a single game is short enough to enjoy whenever there's a few minutes of time to kill. Dynamically created levels provide an endless challenge and the colourful kaiju theme sets a fresh atmosphere.
